NORTHERN ROSELLA FACTS

Description
A slender, long-tailed, rosella with a pale yellow back, underparts and rump, with black spots on back feathers and scallops on underparts. Wings and tail dark blue and a black shoulder patch. Black head with large white cheek patch. Red vent (underside of the base of tail). Body size 28 to 30cm.

This elegant rosella is usually seen in pairs or small flocks. They go to drink in the early morning before feeding on seed on the ground or in trees and shrubs. They lay 2 to 4 white eggs in a tree hollow.

Habitat
Tropical open forests and woodlands, and well-timbered watercourses.

Herbivore

Northern Australia.
