FISH FACTS

Description
The Dotted Butterflyfish is bright yellow with a vertical black and blue bar running across the eye The base of the back parts of the dorsal fin and anal fin is black. There are rows of small black dots on the sides. Older fish have a trailing filament from the dorsal fin.

Size
length to 26cm

Habitat
Uncommon. Found around seaward reefs, clear coral reef lagoon. Usually seen in pairs or small groups. Depth range 2m - 30m.

Breeding
Oviparous. Forms monogamous pairs during breeding.

Range
The Dotted Butterflyfish is found around the Indo-Pacific. In Australia is found around the Great Barrier Reef.
