OCELLATE PIPEFISH FACTS

Description
The Ocellate Pipefish is a long slender fish with orange spots and streaks on the body and tail. The snout is long and slender and it has a distinct tail.

Size
length to 12cm

Habitat
rubble patches of shallow sheltered reefs. depth range to 12 m

Breeding
Ovoviviparous. The male carries the eggs in a brood pouch under the tail.

Range
Western Central Pacific: Celebes and Philippines to Palau, the Solomon Islands, and Australia. In Australia it is known from the northern to southern Great Barrier Reef.
