REPTILE FACTS

Description
Krefft's River Turtle is a freshwater turtle from Queensland. The shell is oblong shaped and greenish brown or dark brown above, and pale underneath. The head has a distinctive pale yellow stripe extending from the eye to the ear.

Size
males grow to about 11 cm in length, females grow to about 15 cm

Habitat
rivers, swamps lagoons. They bask on rocks and logs

Food
aquatic insects and larvae, crustaceans, small fish, also some carrion. Adult turtles also eat plants and fruit

Breeding
The female lays a clutch of up to 16 white eggs in a nest near the water.
