Daisy Hill Koala Centre, Brisbane

The Daisy Hill Koala Centre is located in Daisy Hill in the southern suburbs of Brisbane about situated 25km from the city centre. The area of bushland from Daisy Hill east to Redland Bay is a significant koala habitat. Koalas are under threat in South east Queensland due to habitat loss, road kills and dog attacks. Koalas are still common in other parts of Queensland, but their continued survival is dependent on habitat protection and reducing threats caused by traffic, dogs and other human activity.

Daisy Hill Koala Centre is an information centre about koalas set in an area of natural bushland, Daisy Hill Conservation Park. There are displays explaining the koala like cycle, and how they survive in the Australian bush. You can also climb an observation tower to look for wild koalas in the treetops.

At the Koala Centre, visitors can see koalas close up and find out about these amazing Australian marsupials. The koalas on display are wild animals and may have been brought in because they were orphaned or injured. The aim is to release these koalas back into the wild, so you will not be allowed to cuddle or touch the koalas (although you can take photos of them). If you want to hold a koala for a photograph, you will need to go to another sanctuary such as Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane.

The “Go Bush” program operates various activities from Daisy Hill Koala Centre, including animal shows, and ranger led spotlight walks at night to look for nocturnal animals in Daisy Hill Conservation Park. The “Connect with Nature” program offers educational ranger-led activities for school children.

The Daisy Hill Koala Centre is located on Daisy Hill Road in Daisy Hill, Queensland. There is no charge for admission to the centre.
