Steve’s Whale One is a luxury cruise vessel owned by Australia Zoo that runs whale watching trips. The vessel caters for up to 115 people and is based at The Wharf at Mooloolaba on the Queensland Sunshine Coast. It was named “Steve’s Whale One” by Steve Irwin’s children. The boat is an aluminum catamaran and has been purpose-built for whale watching and cruising. It is twenty metres long with a beam of seven metres.
Visitors can enjoy the scenery and see the whales from the 360 degree viewing areas. The midmorning cruise departs at 10am and returns at 2:30pm including lunch. During the trip, the crew provides information and answers your questions about Humpback whales. The Sunrise Whale Encounter is another option for those who don’t mind getting up early. The Sunrise cruise departs at 5.30am and returns at 9am and includes buffet breakfast, however this option is only available at weekends. Australia Zoo guarantees whale sightings with the offer of a free return trip if no whales are sighted.
Steve’s Whale One also caters for weddings, group scenic cruises, corporate events, private charter and parties, and can provide meals and entertainment to suit the event. Guests can cruise the canals with their multi-million dollar water front mansions, and cruise along the beautiful Sunshine Coast waters with sandy beaches, and views to the Glasshouse Mountains.
Steve’s Whale One is moored at The Wharf on Parkyn Parade, Mooloolaba. The encounter is available seven days a week during the whale season from early June to November.
