Western K.I Caravan Park and Wildlife Reserve

Western K.I Caravan Park and Wildlife Reserve is situated on 550 hectares of natural bush and grasslands right next door to the internationally acclaimed Flinders Chase National Park, featuring world renowned Admirals Arch and Remarkable Rocks.  Kelly Hill Caves Conservation Park and Hanson Bay are also just a short drive away. This property has been family owned and operated since the 50′s when it was a soldier settlement farm, since then it has evolved into a holiday hot spot for people to see the natural wildlife that Kangaroo Island has to offer.

Wildlife is most visible in the quieter winter months and in summer, during the cooler parts of the day, observe from a distance, to not interrupt their natural behaviour . Most of Kangaroo Island’s mammals are nocturnal however you can be lucky to see some here during the day.

The property offers accommodation for all budgets from  powered and unpowered camping;  to self contained cabins.  There are 2 upmarket cypress log cabins. 3 standard park cabins and 4 luxury park cabins (including one disabled access cabin).  This is the perfect place to relax and watch the wildlife at your door step.  Koalas, Kangaroos, Possums, Tammar Wallabies and Echidnas are just a handful of the species that can be sighted during your stay.  Also a bird watchers haven with Yellow-billed Spoonbills, Royal Spoonbill, Nankeen Kestrel, Scarlet Robins, Blue Wrens, Lorikeets, Black Cockatoos, Crimson Rosellas, Bush Stone-Curlews, Scrub Wrens, Crescent Honey-eaters and Cape Barren Geese and lots more.  Take a short walk on one of the Nature trails leading down to Becky’s Lagoon for some bird watching, animal sightings and to the frogs come alive as the sun goes down.

There is plenty to see and do on Kangaroo Island so why not use the park as a base to drive to the many bush walks and sights across the Island, or stay back for the day relax and go bird watching with the properties own bird list.
