Description
Mitchell's Hopping Mouse is a small grey-brown mouse, with whitish underparts. The tail is brown with tuft at end.

Size
Head and body 12cm. Tail 15cm.

Environment
Lives in mallee areas. Nocturnal, living in deep burrows during the day, often a metre below surface..

Food
seed, leaves, insects. Sometimes eats roots when food is scarce..

Breeding
Litter is 3-5 with gestation of about 40 days. The young are weaned after about 35 days.

Range
southern parts of South Australia and north-west parts of Victoria, with a few populations in southern parts of Western Australia.
