MAGPIE GOOSE FACTS

Description
The Magpie Goose has black and white plumage and yellowish legs. The feet are only partially webbed. Can form large and noisy flocks of up to a few thousand individuals. The voice is a loud honking.

Size
80-85cm, wing span 1.5m

Habitat
open wet areas such as floodplains, swamps, dams.

Food
sedges, grasses, seeds

Breeding
The nest is on the ground made of trampled vegetation. Typical clutch is 5-14 eggs- average 7.

Range
coastal northern Australia
