MALLEEFOWL FACTS

Description
Head and neck grey, wings mottled grey-black and brown, underparts dull white. Black stripe down the front of the neck. Body up to 60 cm long.

Malleefowls build nests in sandy soil. The nest consists of a mound up to 1 m high and 4 m wide. When the young hatch, they push their way to the surface, which can take several hours. From then on they are totally independent.
